12 plein air artists will be juried in to paint in the gardens during the Charlotte Garden Club ART i n t h e g a r d e n TOUR MAY 16-17 Plein Air Artists Charlotte Garden Club’s – 2020 Art in the Garden Tour New Date May 16 & 17 It is time to start planning for the Mint Garden and Art Tour in May. Calling for 12 plein air artists to paint during the Charlotte Garden Club’s Annual Mint Museum Art in the Garden Tour in Charlotte, NC on Saturday, May 16 & Sunday, May 17, 2020 The artists will be juried into the event. Garden Tour ~ This is an annual fund raising event for the Charlotte Garden Club. During one weekend in May they sell tickets to tour 6 beautiful home gardens. Also, 12 artists are invited to paint plein air at the featured homes; two artists will be assigned at each garden. Artists will sell their small plein air works on site from their easels at the homes (additional paintings offered for sale do not have to be painted in the gardens on that day). Paintings will also be offered for sale during Sunday evening’s reception at the Mint Museum of Art. Commission The artists will take care of all sales and taxes; 20% of the purchase price will be paid to the Charlotte Garden Club after the event. Who can participate? Professional artists who are comfortable painting outdoors rain or shine, who are motivated to make sales for themselves. How will artists be selected? All plein air artists will be considered, though priority will be given to artists who have a website, blog or facebook promoting their work and are available to paint both days during the tour Saturday May 16, 10 am – 4pm & Sunday May 17, 1pm – 4pm and attend the Mint Museum of Art reception and sales party Sunday 4pm – 6pm There will be a “People’s Choice Award” given at the reception at the Mint Museum. All artists will submit one painting that they painted in the garden that weekend. How do I apply? Email Carol Pighin at [email protected]. Include – name, phone, web/blog address, and email address and tell her Nancy sent you. What is the Deadline to apply? March 15 @ 8pm.
